 Filenews 12 July 2022

Two packages, which contained a gross weight of 13 kg and 200 grams of cannabis, were found today by men of the YKAN and the Customs Department at Larnaka airport.

As Stelios Sergidis, spokesperson of YKAN, said, "following information, which was evaluated by the Service in cooperation with the Customs Department, two packages – parcels containing drugs were identified".

The packages, he said, arrived at Larnaka airport from Spain on Monday and after an investigation it was found that they contained 26 airtight packages, with a quantity of cannabis of a gross weight of 13 kg and 200 grams.

He added that the packages were received by the YKAN and will be sent for the necessary scientific examinations, while investigations are being carried out on the final recipients of the drugs.

It is noted that YKAN is investigating all possibilities regarding the arrival of drugs in Cyprus.

It is still being investigated whether there is a connection between today's arrival of the packages at Larnaka airport, with those that were also found yesterday Monday and contained 13.5 kg of cannabis.

The case is being investigated by the Larnaca District Unit of YKAN.
