NO SUBSIDISED HOLIDAYS IN AUGUST

Filenews 19 July 2022 - by Socrates Ioakim

It is now a given to the Pancyprian Hoteliers Association that in August there will be no subsidized holidays, as they have not had until today, despite their request, any official information about the intentions of the state. Speaking to Insider, PASYXE general manager Filokypros Rousounidis said they do not know the deputy ministry of tourism's intentions on whether the plan will come back in the autumn months.

Asked, however, to comment on the occupancy rates observed in the month of July, during which even the plan of subsidized holidays for domestic tourism is "running", he said that the best statistics are recorded so far in Paphos. "In Paphos, based on PASYXE data, hotel occupancy rates range between 70-80%, while in Limassol, Larnaca at 60-65% and in Protaras and Ayia Napa between 65-70%," he stressed.

Regarding August, he underlined that the occupancy rates will definitely be at better levels, emphasizing that the three-day period of August in several cases will exceed 90%, with Paphos and the free district of Famagusta holding for another year the scepter of arrivals.
