The Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, remains steadfast in his blackmail over Sweden and Finland's accession to NATO.
In an interview Monday with the state-run TRT, he reiterated that Turkey expects concrete steps from Sweden and Finland in relation to the fight against terrorism, stressing that the two countries must meet Ankara's demands in order to advance their NATO accession process.
We are waiting for responses to our requests
"We are waiting for responses to extradition requests from both countries, which should not expect Turkey to compromise," Erdogan said, according to Daily Sabah.
He went on to underline that the two countries should not expect Turkey to support their NATO membership unless they proceed to crack down on terrorist groups from taking action against Turkey.
Dissatisfaction with European countries as well
Erdogan also said in his interview about Ankara's dissatisfaction with the attitude of Germany, France, Italy and others towards Turkey's concerns about the fight against terrorism. He noted that Sweden and Finland reported that other European countries had a similar attitude.
Regarding the new Turkish operation in Syria, Erdoğan argued that Syria has become a nest of terrorist groups and that Russia and Iran must decide what their stance will be.
