14,914 NEW CASES AND FOUR DEATHS - Week to 7 July

Four deaths and 14,914 new cases of coronavirus were recorded in the last week in Cyprus. According to the announcement of the Ministry of Health, the positivity rate is 13.42%. At the same time, 97 COVID-19 patients are being treated in hospitals while 8 are in serious condition.

4 deaths reported

They concern:

  • Man, aged 87, who passed away on July 2
  • Man, aged 91, who passed away on July 3
  • Man, aged 92, who passed away on July 4
  • Man, aged 69, who passed away on July 4
Total number of deaths with COVID-19 as the ultimate cause: 1079.
  • 97 COVID-19 patients are being treated in SHSO hospitals
  • in serious condition (ICU: 0 off ventilator/1 intubated, MAF: 7)
  • patients who ceased to be infectious continue to be hospitalized by intubation due to COVID in an Intensive Care Unit.

Diagnostic tests:

  • A total of 111,137 diagnostic tests were performed
  • 14,914 new cases were detected (total cases 530,510).
  • Positivity rate in all tests 13,42%

Total number of molecular tests (PCR):

  • 5,052 molecular tests were performed
  • There were 1,043 positive cases
  • Positivity rate 20.65%

Total number of Rapid Antigen Tests:

  • 106,085 rapid antigen tests were performed
  • There were 13,871 positive cases
  • Positivity rate 13.08%

 Tracking:

  • 13 molecular tests were performed and 5 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 38.46%)

Private initiative:

  • 4,332 molecular tests were performed, 850 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 19.62%)
  • 91,263 rapid antigen tests were performed, 13,271 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 14.54%)

Through the programs of the Ministry of Health, 14,822 rapid antigen tests were carried out. 600 positive cases were identified.

  • Sampling points: 6,734 rapid detection tests identified 492 positive cases (positivity rate of 7.31%)

Other

  • National Guard: 373 rapid antigen tests were performed and 27 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 7.24%)
  • Care homes: 4,880 rapid antigen tests were performed, 47 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 0.96%)
  • Closed facilities: 2,835 rapid antigen tests were performed, 34 new cases were identified (positivity rate 1.2%).
