PAPHOS - BUS SERVICE BACK TO NORMAL FROM 2/6

Filenews 1 June 2022 - by Dora Christodoulou

Normally, the public transport of Pafos will operate from tomorrow, after the administration of OSYPA informed employees and guilds that the competent ministry has paid in the afternoon to the Organization the amount of expenses which include the staff payroll and from tomorrow morning the salary of May will be in the accounts of the beneficiaries.

As a result, the measures that had been announced in advance are lifted and the buses will normally serve the travelling public.

In the morning today the bus drivers of the Pafos Transport Organization proceeded to a two-hour work stoppage. The representatives of the workers and the unions had stressed that according to the relevant legislation, the payment of the salary must be made no later than the last day of the month, adding that there were already many delays in the previous months, culminating in the month of April when there was a delay of five days in the payment of the salary.

"We had warned the company and the Ministry that we would no longer tolerate any delay in the payment of salaries," they stressed. "If by the afternoon there is no movement on the part of the company and the Ministry for the payment of salaries, tomorrow morning they will go on an indefinite strike"

Now, after the afternoon developments, normality seems to be returning to public transport in Paphos.
