Multiple arrests in drug cases were made by the police of the British Bases.
The B.B. Police have pledged to continue the stance of intolerance to drugs, after revealing that 31 arrests have been made in the Dhekelia region since March.
The cases included nine people arrested for possession with intent to supply and found with large sums of money and 16 for driving under the influence of drugs. The remaining offenses were for possession.
The Assistant Director of the Police Department, Andreas Pitsillidis, revealed that the drugs discovered were "cannabis, cocaine and crystalline methamphetamine".
The largest quantity of drugs seized was half a kilogram of category B, cannabis, which according to police experts is worth about €10,000.
Speaking this week as he awaits confirmation of the dates of the presentation of undeclared courts and pointing to a rise in drug arrests, Mr. Pitsillidis explained: "As we approach the summer season, we are seeing an increase in drug use and their supply.
"As a police force, we take this extremely seriously, as drug use destroys lives. We are working very closely with our colleagues in the CCT's Anti-Narcotics Department to address this problem and those found to be involved in this criminal activity will be prosecuted under the law."
The arrests were made in the villages of Pyla, Xylofagou, Ormidia, Xylotymbos and Achna.
