Tourist arrivals in May 2022 amounted to 315,018 compared to 100,852 arrivals recorded during May 2021.
For the period January – May 2022, tourist arrivals amounted to 849,058 compared to 156,825 in the corresponding period of 2021, with 246,556 in the period January – May 2020, as well as with 1,121,361 arrivals in the period January – May 2019.
Arrivals from the UK were the main source of tourism for May 2022, accounting for 40.1% (126,324) of total arrivals, arrivals from Poland 7.4% (23,197), arrivals from Israel 6.9% (21,749), arrivals from Germany 6.5% (20,592), arrivals from Sweden 5.1% (15,943) and arrivals from Greece 4.4% (13,905).
The purpose of the trip in May 2022 was for 79.5% of tourists the holidays, for 12.5% the visit to friends or relatives and for 7.9% professional. Similarly, for May 2021, 80.7% visited Cyprus for holidays, 9.8% for visiting friends or relatives and 9.4% for business reasons.
