The large-scale joint exercise "AGAPINOR 2022" was completed today, in which personnel from the National Guard and the Israeli Armed Forces participated.
The exercise, which began on 29 May, is part of the implementation of the bilateral defence cooperation programme and indicates the excellent relations between the Republic of Cyprus and the State of Israel in the field of Defence and Security.
The exercise took place in a large part of the land, sea and air area of the Republic of Cyprus and included combined land, air and naval operations, struggle in residential areas and mountain race, special operations and logistics operations.
The aim of the exercise was to enhance the interoperability of the armed forces of the two countries, to increase their operational capabilities through joint training and exchange of experience, as well as to demonstrate the good neighbourly relations between the two countries.
The management and coordination of the exercise was carried out by the Hellenic National Guard General Staff in cooperation with the Israeli General Staff, with the development of a single Operations Center and the exchange of links between the two staffs, at the various levels of command.
It is worth noting that during the same period of the exercise "AGAPINOR 2022", 70 members of the National Guard went to Israel where they participated in an exercise to fight within a residential area in specially designed facilities.
