A coordinated operation for the repatriation of foreigners residing illegally in the Republic of Cyprus was carried out yesterday by the Police.
In cooperation with the FRONTEX Organization, 15 third-country nationals were repatriated yesterday, accompanied by members of the Police – Aliens and Immigration Service and the Organization, in a joint return flight with the Greek authorities.
According to the Police, this operation is the 5th for the current year, during which a total of 59 foreigners were repatriated. With yesterday's operation, the total number of deportations and voluntary returns of third-country nationals, carried out by the Police, in cooperation with the other co-competent services, for the first half of this year, amounts to 2,469.
The return of these persons takes place in the context of the implementation of the policy of carrying out deportations and voluntary returns, which concerns foreigners who resided illegally in the Republic of Cyprus and against them had been issued return decisions to their countries or deportation decrees.
It is noted that, in repatriation or deportation operations, in 2019 417 third-party nationals of third-party piles were repatriated to their countries of origin, in 2020 1,272 were repatriated, while in 2021 2,320 persons were repatriated.
