CYPRUS RESIDENTS - CYPRUS WINTER FUEL ALLOWANCE
There was a letter in the Cyprus Mail over the weekend advising that following the UKs representations to Brussels, post-Brexit the Cyprus winter fuel allowance has been reinstated, and this will be back-dated for the last 2 years.
The allowance is paid to those who live in mountainous areas, ie 600m and above. Tala does not qualify as it is around 300m to 460m.
You must be a permanent resident and have received the allowance pre-Brexit to qualify.
Local authorities should be contacting those residents affected - and they must react swiftly as the cut-off date for applications is 30 June
Please also note that this is not connected to the UK winter fuel allowance . The UK ceased to pay this to UK expats some years ago.
