COMMISSION - TURKISH OVERFLIGHTS VIOLATE INTERNATIONAL LAW

 Filenews 2 June 2022

"The Commission is aware of the recent increase in violations of Greek airspace by Turkish fighter jets as well as by unmanned air vehicles (UAVs)," the Commission said in response to a question by ND MEP Manolis Kefalogiannis about the overflights of Turkish fighters.

"The flights of military aircraft over Greek populated areas are a violation of international law, while Turkey must commit itself explicitly to good neighbourly relations, international agreements and the peaceful resolution of disputes by recourse if necessary to the International Court of Justice," the European Commission adds.

"The Commission will continue to demand that Turkey cease all threats and actions that harm good neighbourly relations as well as to respect the sovereignty of all Member States of the European Union over their territorial waters and their national airspace," the Commission concludes.
