The Fire Brigade for the four-day period from 06:00 on June 10, 2022 until 06:00 on June 14, 2022 responded to 103 calls for help, 65 fires, 34 special services and 4 false calls. At the same time, from 06:00 on June 13, 2022 until 06:00 on June 14, 2022, it responded to 37 calls for help, 22 fires, 13 special services and 2 false calls.
At 14:19 a call was received for a fire in dry grass at the entrance of the village of Peristerona, in Nicosia district. Members of the Police and the Fire Brigade responded with four staffed firefighting vehicles from the Fire Stations of the Nicosia district, a staffed fire truck of the Department of Forests and a Portable Fire Fighting Unit of the Game Service. The fire was brought under control at 16:35 and burned about 5 (five) hectares of dry grass, olive trees and a number of hay balls. It seems, at first sight, that the fire came from sparks in A.E.K. cables, which were caused by birds.
At 16:45 a call was received for a fire in dry grass between the villages of Mallia and Kedares. Members of the Police, the Fire Brigade from the Fire Stations of the Limassol and Pafos district responded with four staffed firefighting vehicles, a staffed fire truck and a pedestrian section of the Department of Forests, a Portable Fire Fighting Unit of the Game Service, three Portable Fire Fighting Units from the communities of the area, as well as two planes of the Department of Forests. The fire was in two areas and burned 5 (five) hectares of dry grass, wild vegetation and a number of carob trees. Firefighting forces remained at the site of the fire during the night.
