8 DEATHS, 1,814 NEW CASES - 27 May to 2 June

Eight deaths due to coronavirus have been announced by the Ministry of Health while in the last week 1,814 new cases of the virus have been identified.

More specifically for the week of May 27 - June 2, 2022:

  • 8 deaths reported
They concern:
  • Man, aged 62, who died on 19/01/2021
  • Woman, aged 77, who died on 30/07/2021
  • Man, aged 88, who died on 28/05/2022
  • Woman, aged 62, who died on 28/05/2022
  • Man, aged 75, who died on 30/05/2022
  • Man, aged 92, who died on 31/05/2022
  • Man, aged 90, who died on 31/05/2022
  • Woman, aged 50, who died on 31/05/2022
  • Total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19: 1067.
  • 35 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC
  • in serious condition (ICU: 0 out of snorkel/0 intubated, PPE: 1)
  • patients who have ceased to be infectious continue to be hospitalized intubated due to COVID in an Intensive Care Unit.

Diagnostic tests:

  • A total of 65,706 diagnostic tests were performed
  • 1,814 new cases were identified (total cases 491,777).
  • Positivity rate in total exams 2.76%

Total number of molecular tests (PCR):

  • 4,321 molecular tests were performed
  • There were 216 positive cases
  • Positivity rate 5.00%

Total number of rapid antigen tests (Rapid Test):

  • 61,385 rapid antigen tests were performed
  • There were 1,598 positive cases
  • Positivity rate 2.60%

 Tracking:

  • 81 molecular tests were performed and 3 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 3.70%)

Private initiative:

  • 3,116 molecular tests were performed, 166 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 5.33%)
  • 49,275 rapid antigen tests were performed, 1,503 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 3.05%)

Through the programmes of the Ministry of Health, 12,110 rapid antigen tests were carried out. 95 positive cases were identified.

  • Sampling points: 3,172 rapid detection tests identified 73 positive cases (positivity rate 2.30%)

Other

  • National Guard: 1010 rapid antigen tests were performed and positive cases were identified (positivity rate 0.20%)
  • Nursing homes: 3,973 rapid antigen tests were performed, 17 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 0.43%)
  • Closed structures: 3,955 rapid antigen tests were performed, 3 new cases were identified (positivity rate 0.08%).
