SEISMIC TREMOR BETWEEN CYPRUS AND LEBANON 1 May [updated]

A new earthquake was felt in Cyprus.

Specifically, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC), the earthquake occurred a few minutes after 12:00 noon today between Cyprus and Lebanon.

According to the first estimates, the magnitude of the earthquake is 3.7 on the Richter scale.

The announcement of the Geological Survey Department

The Geological Survey Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment announces that on Sunday, May 1, 2022 at 12:02, an earthquake of magnitude M=3.7 on the Richter scale was recorded by the seismological network of the Department.

The earthquake had an epicenter in the sea area between Cyprus and Lebanon, 110 km south-southeast of Paralimni and a focal depth of 8 km. The earthquake was barely noticed in some areas of Cyprus.
