Pressure for a vote, before the interruption of the work of the House for the summer, of the entire legislative framework for the new tourism infrastructure promoted by the Deputy Ministry of Tourism is exerted by the Commerce Committee of the House.
In this context, the Trade Committee has itself prepared, on the initiative of its chairman and DISY MP Kyriakos Hatzigiannis and the MP of DIKO Chrysis Pantelidis, a law proposal that has already been discussed before it, for the establishment of a legislative framework for hostels that currently operate without any regulation and law, while it also expedites the promotion to the plenary of the Parliament of the government bill on glamping, i.e. luxury camps.
The two pieces of legislation, according to what Mr Hatzigiannis said last Tuesday, will be put to the vote before the summer break. Speaking to "F", he also said that soon the bill on cottage industry, which also enriches the country's tourism infrastructure and strategy, is expected to be tabled in Parliament. The bill is already before the Legal Service, he said, and the aim is to pass it before the summer as well. The aim of the bill is, among other things, for the cottage industry to enter into a specific framework by legitimizing, in essence, the production and distribution of products prepared in various premises, which can under certain conditions and in small quantities be sold not only in the homes of producers and in their own shops, but also in supermarkets. Mr. Hatzigiannis said that he called on the Deputy Ministry of Tourism to present before the summer, with the aim of voting, the bill on the visited farms. As he said, if the Deputy Ministry does not have time to present the bill on the visited farms, he has prepared a relevant law proposal which, as he said, he intends to formally submit to Parliament.
The goal, he said, is for the regulation required for the tourism infrastructure provided for and the National Strategy for tourism to be known but also ready for use by any interested party before this summer.
As we wrote again, with the legislative framework for the visited farms, the aim is for various premises, such as wineries and farms, to be accessible not only for visits, but also for accommodation and overnight stay of visitors and tourists, as is the case in several countries abroad.
