PAPHOS - NEW FIRE FIGHTING PLANES ARRIVE

 Filenews 16 May 2022

The two new firefighting planes with which Cyprus is being reinforced this summer for firefighting issues, got to work today, but fortunately for exercise and preparation purposes only.

The two tractor-type flying equipment, which have come to Cyprus from Spain in the framework of an agreement of the government similar to the one for the Russian Kamov 32, arrived in the morning from their base in Akrotiri at Paphos airport for the purpose of training the crews and preparing for the summer firefighting.

The two planes, which are under the management responsibility of the Department of Forests, carry out from 10 a.m. training and preparatory flights to various parts of the Pafos district, with particular importance in terms of greenery. At the same time, they also carry out test water drops in conditions similar to those that are expected to occupy us this summer.

The activation of the two air tractors is particularly considered this year as a key importance for the shielding of Cyprus from the fiery storm that has been causing serious wounds in recent years, given that as it is now known,  firefighting helicopters from Russia will not strengthen the firefighting forces of the Republic.
