According to the Police and social bodies, the phenomenon of minors in the Pafos district who use the cars of their parents or relatives is alarming. Not one, not two, but five minors were recently spotted by the Police in Paphos, the Chrysochous area and the suburban area going for a drive in four cases, and a moped in the fifth case.
This serious situation arose during the intensification of the traffic police's operations to crack down on illegalities regarding the highway code and to implement stricter measures due to the increase in traffic on the roads after the resumption of the tourist flow.
Some of the minors had the right to a student permit, but they were not accompanied by an adult/ experienced driver, while others were not even of school leave age. They even drove the cars and the moped within the residential area, without any supervision from their relatives.
These new cases, although they came "gathered" magnifying the problem, were not the first illegalities identified having as "protagonists" underage students in the Pafos district. A similar or even greater extent is the problem that was recorded during the operation of the schools in 2021, a competent source told "F".
