Stek expressed once again its long-standing position for the effective confrontation of the phenomenon of noise pollution at a recent meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on the Interior.
Noise pollution is a chronic problem that negatively affects the quality of our offered tourism product and affects Cyprus internationally, hindering any efforts to make the country a quality tourist destination they note in the announcement. For years, hotel businesses have been receiving justified complaints from their customers in relation to the volume from nightclubs adjacent to hotels. In recent years there have been endless discussions in relation to the non-implementation of the law on sound control in recreation centres, but without taking decisions on the necessary legislative changes for its modernization, which will lead to the fight against illegality.
Finally, they state that "If we want Cyprus to be considered a quality tourist destination, such amendments must be made immediately to the relevant law and regulations in order to make the legislation applicable and to carry out the relevant controls in the recreation centres. Without half-measures, without further postponements, it is imperative that the competent services finally assume their responsibilities in this matter. Otherwise, let's start apologizing in advance to those tourists who will visit our country and will be confronted with this phenomenon."
