Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov today warned the West that supplying Ukraine with weapons capable of hitting Russian territory would be a "serious step towards an unacceptable escalation," Reuters reported, citing Russian Tass.
The head of Russian diplomacy told the Arabic-language channel RT that he hopes reasonable people in the West will understand this, adding: "There are still a few (s.s. reasonable) there," according to the RIA agency.
The Russian foreign minister, meanwhile, earlier rejected the Italian peace plan for Ukraine.
"Serious politicians, who want to achieve results and are not only interested in self-promotion to their voters, cannot propose such things," the leader of Russian diplomacy said in an interview with russia today television network.
