LIMASSOL - 50 MOTORISTS CAUGHT

Without or with an expired driving license and without certificates of safety and suitability of a vehicle, several drivers were identified on Sunday in Limassol, as part of checks carried out by Ulamos motorcyclists of the Limassol Traffic Police.

According to a police statement, during the campaign, five persons were identified who were driving vehicles without holding a driver's license and ten persons who were driving vehicles without being covered by an insurance certificate. Also, a person was spotted driving with an expired driver's licence.

A further 13 complaints concerned driving an expired vehicle, as well as another 15 complaints about various traffic offences, such as riding a motorcycle without a protective helmet, not wearing a seat belt by drivers and vehicle passengers, using a mobile phone while driving and traffic signal offences.

Six persons driving vehicles that have been declared to the Road Transport Department as immobilised, as well as one person driving a vehicle with an expired certificate of suitability, were also reported.

For the purpose of investigating cases of traffic offences, as well as illegal mechanical conversions, nine motorcycles and one car were seized.

In total, the members of the Ulamos Motorcyclists of the Limassol Traffic Police proceeded to 50 complaints of traffic violations.

The traffic controls by the members of the Police, the announcement notes, aim at the prevention of road traffic collisions, the confrontation of nuisance phenomena caused by drivers of vehicles with modifications, and the increase of the sense of safety on the road network.
