A powerful tool is the helplines to children who, through their everyday life, are confronted with conditions or situations that can be sources of personal concern and concern to them. This is what Hope For Children said in a statement on the occasion of May 17, which is the International Children's Helplines Day. At the same time, he noted that this results in children experiencing thoughts and feelings that they sometimes find difficult to manage or even seek help.
As he noted, helplines help to create a safe framework for children to be heard and seek to safeguard their rights. Specifically, access to a helpline is easy, offered for free, and most of the time is anonymous, which can make it easier for a child to seek help and discuss a concern or situation that concerns them.
The "Hope For Children" CRC Policy Center as a humanitarian organization that provides services to support children and defend their rights, operates the following Helplines:
Hope For Children Helpline 1466: Free telephone support to all children and families in Cyprus. The helpline operates 24/7 and provides psychological, social and legal support, advice and guidance on issues related to child protection.
European Helpline for Children and Adolescents 116 111: Open Monday to Friday from 12:00 noon to 20:00 and every Saturday from 9:30 to 14:00. In Cyprus, the European Helpline operates in collaboration with HFC and SPAVO. The line provides the opportunity for minors to talk about anything that concerns them.
European hotline for missing children 116 000: It operates on 24/7, 365 days a year. The Helpline 116000 aims to prevent and handle cases of missing children and to facilitate access to support services for the relatives of missing children. The line operates with the cooperation of HFC and SPAVO, and with a protocol of cooperation with the Ministry of Justice and Public Order and the Cyprus Police.
The HFC is a member of Child Helpline International (CHI), an international organization with 166 members from 139 countries and territories around the world. CHI coordinates information, knowledge and data used to help and support child protection systems worldwide, as well as to help their members promote children's rights. She is also a member of missing children in Europe.
