Huge is the destruction that is underway in Siberia, as large forest fires have burned dozens of acres of forest, but also residential areas.
The fires have broken out in Krasnoyarsk (eastern Siberia), where they have destroyed about 200 buildings and already claimed the lives of at least 5 people, as it became known today Saturday by the local authorities, which declared a state of emergency in the affected areas.
"The fire is spreading to more than 16 residential zones, about 200 buildings, many timber factories, a kindergarten are burning, there are already dead," the emergency ministry of this area told Telegram.
Weather conditions are not conducive to extinguishing
At the moment, five dead have been counted. Calling the situation "difficult," authorities declared a state of emergency in the region.
According to the authorities, about 300 firefighters and more than 90 vehicles are involved in the firefighting operations.
"The operation of the fire brigades is complicated by the meteorological conditions, gale force winds accelerate the spread of fires and prevent firefighting," the local ministry added.
