The situation in the community of Emba is becoming more and more worrying, due to the over-concentration in the last two months of migrants of Arab and African origin in places of residence in the area. This is emphasized by a community authority and residents of the large community of the western peri-urban area of Pafos, denouncing that a deterioration of the demographic status of the area is taking place in line with what happened in Chloraka and led to the issuance of the prohibition decree of the Ministry of Interior.
Community Council and Emba residents complain that the state allows by watching, without interfering, businessmen who exploit the housing needs of these people to make "policy", deciding where to transfer immigrants depending on the reactions that exist and the availability of their own spaces.
At the same time, they complain that almost daily now, migrants of Arab or African origin appear out of nowhere in the centre of Emba with travel luggage in their hands or with their belongings loaded in supermarket trolleys and are guided by some to specific building complexes to live with the hundreds of other foreigners who are already in them.
The living of these people in these accommodations, argue the authorities and residents, does not meet even the basics in terms of human living, with obvious risks to public health.
"Emba is a community of about 3,000 inhabitants. It is inconceivable that today it has more than a thousand immigrants settled on its territory", is the position that is now heard from all the official lips of the community.
