CULTURAL CROSSROADS FESTIVAL - Limassol - 9-16 July

Cyprus Mail 24 May 2022 - by Eleni Philippou

A week of intensive musical classes and concerts is coming up in July as another edition of the Cultural Crossroads Festival takes place. Music students will be able to join masterclasses for violin, viola, cello and piano with internationally renowned pedagogues.

Apart from the classes, classical music will also fill the streets of old Limassol as students and teachers alike perform chamber music concerts. This year’s professors include the director of the Cultural Crossroads Festival and acclaimed violinist Wolfgang Schröder, Viola musician Paul Cortese, cellist Erich Oscar Huetter and pianist Christoph Declara.

Audiences will be able to enjoy the musical happenings of the festival in numerous informal concerts. The opening event will take place on July 9 at the Limassol Passenger Terminal with pieces by Mozart, Dvorak and Klein. More concerts will be held on July 12 and 14 at the Papadakeion Municipal Music School. July 15 will host a unique event with a flashmob near the old castle. The festival’s final concert will happen on July 16 at the Limassol Passenger Terminal again performing music by Strauss, Tchaikovsky and Nino Rota.

“The Cultural Crossroads Festival’s aim,” say the organisers, “is to bring together young, enthusiastic and eager-to-learn musicians and unite them with the dedication and passion of highly respected educators, all with their own impressive international careers.”
