At 19% of the normal for May, the average amount of rainfall that fell in the free areas from the morning of the 1st May (09:00) until the 23rd of this month, according to preliminary data released on Monday by the Department of Meteorology. Nicosia was significantly strengthened with the rainfall recorded in the last 24 hours amounting to 11 mm.
According to the data, the average total amount of rainfall throughout free Cyprus stood at 3.7 mm, compared to 19.6 mm which is the normal rainfall for the month.
The largest amount of rainfall since May 1st occurred in Platania with 19.2 mm which corresponds to 46% of the normal rainfall for the month of February.
They are followed by Nicosia (Athalassa) with 11.8 mm which corresponds to 54% of the normal, with 11 mm counted within the last 24 hours, the New Limassol Port with 6.2 mm (89% of the normal), Pano Panagia with 6.0 mm (21% of normal) and the Panagia Bridge with 5.9 mm (20% of the normal one).
On the contrary, according to the preliminary data of the Department of Meteorology, the smallest amount of rainfall since the beginning of May was recorded in Lythrodontas and Paphos Airport with 0.4 mm (2% and 4% of normal respectively), in Kellaki with 0.7 mm (3% of normal) and in Kornos with 0.9 mm (4% of normal).
