 Filenews 4 April 2022

As part of efforts to strengthen the immunity of groups of the population that are most vulnerable to severe disease, the Ministry of Health recalls that citizens can be served by open-access vaccination centres operating in all provinces.

It is recalled that:

a) The booster/3rd dose in subjects 12-17 years of age is administered with a Pfizer/BioNTech MRNA vaccine provided that the period of six (6) months has elapsed since the 2nd dose was taken.

  • For the administration of a vaccine to people aged 12-17 years, an identification document (ID card, passport) and the vaccination card must be presented.
  • Taking the booster/3rd dose of vaccine is optional.
  • It is emphasized that the administration of an adjuvant/3rd dose to people aged 18 years and over continues as normal, either through the arrangement of an appointment or through the vaccination centres of free access (walk-in).

b) The booster/4th dose is given to people over 70 years of age, to people regardless of age who live or work in nursing homes and closed structures, provided that the period of five (5) months has elapsed since the reception of the strengthening/3rd dose.

  • To administer a vaccine to people over 70 years of age, an identification document (ID card, passport) and the vaccination card must be presented.
  • This will be followed by an update on vaccination with a booster/4th dose of healthcare professionals and immunosuppressed individuals.
