The administration of the 4th dose of coronavirus vaccine to people over 60 years of age begins tomorrow, 26 April.
According to the Ministry of Health, beneficiaries will be able to receive the booster dose by arranging an appointment from the vaccination portal, or through the walk-in vaccination centres operating in all provinces, provided that the period of five months has elapsed since the 3rd dose was received.
The Ministry of Health points out that the Spyros Kyprianou vaccination centre in Limassol from Tuesday, April 26, 2022, will operate temporarily at the Linopetra Health Center, due to sports activities.
Specifically, the 4th dose is given to people over 60 years of age (by presenting an ID card or passport and the vaccination card), to people regardless of age who live or work in nursing homes and closed structures (presenting an ID card or passport and the vaccination card), to health professionals regardless of age, and to immunodeficient and immunosuppressed patients regardless of age. Interested parties should present an identity card or passport, a vaccination card and a license to practice for health professionals.
The Ministry of Health notes that immunodeficient and immunosuppressed patients may come to the walk-in centres by submitting a medical certificate from a Specialist (ID card or passport, vaccination card) or they can express an interest in arranging an appointment for vaccination through the attending physician, by sending a request to the e-mail address: 4dose@moh.gov.cy.
As far as immunosuppressed patients are concerned, the Ministry states that the beneficiaries for the fourth dose are those who are in active therapy for solid tumours and haematologic malignancies, have a history of transplantation of solid organs and receive immunosuppressive therapy, have a history of transplantation of primordial haematopoietic organs and receive immunosuppressive therapy, people with hereditary immunodeficiency, with HIV Infection/AIDS, in immunosuppressive therapy including biological agents and people with renal insufficiency undergoing haemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis;
With regard to cortisone intake, it should be noted that it concerns people who have received or are receiving a total dose of ›10 mg prednisone/day (=8 mg of methylpregnisolone) for one month in the last six months.
