Russia announced today that British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and other high-ranking British officials are banned from entering the country in response to British sanctions against Moscow over its military operation in Ukraine.
"This measure was taken in response to the rampant communication and political campaign aimed at isolating Russia internationally and creating the right conditions to hinder our country and strangle the [national] economy," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
It denounces London's "unprecedented hostile acts", particularly sanctions against Russian high-ranking officials.
"The British government is deliberately seeking to aggravate the situation around Ukraine by providing lethal weapons to the Kiev regime and coordinating similar efforts in the name of NATO," the Russian Foreign Ministry added in its statement.
In addition to Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Moscow's blacklist also includes, according to the ANA, Deputy Prime Minister Dominic Raab, Foreign Secretary Liz Truss, Defence Secretary Ben Wallace, former Prime Minister Theresa May and Scottish Prime Minister Nicola Sturgeon.
The ministry's announcement added that it will soon expand the list.
