In recent times, the Police have received complaints concerning a new form of electronic fraud that tends to resemble the well-known investment scam "PYRAMID".
Specifically, unsuspecting citizens are approached on Social Media (Facebook, Instagram, messenger, telegram) by cunning people to register and invest in specific platforms with a promise of a daily return of 5% up to 10%.
The victims buy the various packages available on these platforms for the amounts of €100, €600 and €1,500. Furthermore, victims are asked to provide their telephone number where it is installed on the phone of a platform application.
They are then required to make a certain number of "likes" on various ads that appear in the app. The more subscribers who register victims on the platforms, the more daily profits they have.
The public is urged to be particularly careful and suspicious in such approaches and if anything suspicious is found, they are urged to contact the Electronic Crime Subdivision on the phone 22808200 or the Citizen's Hotline at 1460.
