LEBANESE INVESTMENT OF €12 million IN YPSONAS AND CYPRUS BUSINESS ROUND-UP

The environmental authority has given a green light to a project concerning the construction and operation of a factory for the production of carbonated/carbonated, non-alcoholic, beverages (soft drinks) in the Industrial Area of Agios Silas in Ypsonas.

The plant will consist of three separate production units, as follows: glass bottle decoration unit, carbonated beverage mixing unit and bottling plant. At the same time, in the development there will be office and storage spaces, platforms for loading / unloading products and raw materials, as well as car parks. The plant for the production of carbonated/carbonated, non-alcoholic beverages (soft drinks) will have a total area of 14. 000 sq.m., while there will also be landscaped green spaces (total area of about 9000 sq.m.). During the construction of the project, it is expected to uproot low wild vegetation and around 30 carob trees, which will be transplanted in the landscaped green areas. The total cost of the project owned by the Lebanese interests G.Y.A. PROPERTIES LTD is estimated at €12 million. The owner of the company is the Lebanese Akram Kassatly, who is also president of KASSATLY CHTAURA, which has been active since 1974 in the bottled beverage market, based in the Lebanese capital, Beirut.

€11m facelift at Hilton Nicosia

An impressive environment and a new dimension of hospitality we had the opportunity to see up close the renovated Hilton Nicosia (formerly Hilton Park). The management company Louis Hotels completed the renovation of all 194 rooms of the 5-star hotel. The total renovation amounted to € 10 million, while another € 1 million. will be spent in the near future on the renovation of the halls where the conferences are held at the hotel. During the tour we had the opportunity to try the rich breakfast of the hotel, which has the highest rating, of all the Hilton operating in Europe.

Accelerator programme

Chrysalis LEAP has announced the launch of applications for the EIT-Climate-KIC accelerator programme, which is aimed at start-ups focusing on sustainable development and climate change management. The program bears the name MED ClimAccelerator and is specifically addressed to start-ups, which have surpassed the stage of the idea and are progressing in making their first sales, as well as finding potential investors.

The MED ClimAccelerator consists of a consortium of 3 EIT partner countries, Portugal, Cyprus and Malta, which are joining forces for the 2nd consecutive year to implement a common accelerator. The consortium aims to create a regional acceleration ecosystem, which will serve start-ups in the Mediterranean region and become a bridge between the Middle East, North Africa and Southern Europe. The funding can be up to €20,000, depending on the stage of maturity of each business. The deadline for applications is 10 May 2022.

Hadassah ready this year

Senior executives of The Hadassah Organization, Israel's leading hospital organization, were hosted by the Hadassah Cyprus team for the official presentation of the development plan of Hadassah Cyprus Hospital held in Nicosia and Limassol. Hadassah Cyprus has already started providing services offering a support line for patients in Cyprus who need treatments for serious medical cases in Israel. It is worth noting that the Hadassah Medical Center in Limassol is already under construction and is scheduled to open by the end of 2022, while Hadassah Health Park Cyprus in Nicosia is expected to be completed in 2025 in a privately owned area in Lakatamia. This is a hugely important project, which is estimated to contribute to the development of the economy, health and the provision of more than 1500 new jobs. At the same time, it is estimated that it will contribute to the effort of the Deputy Ministry of Tourism to attract medical tourism to Cyprus. We're done!

Nammos in Limassol

The much talked about Nammos restaurant is the latest addition of Mediterranean Hospitality Venture Ltd (MHV), enhancing the recognition of Parklane, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa as the ultimate gastronomic destination of Limassol. Nammos restaurant started dynamically in 2003 on the charismatic Psarou beach in Mykonos and is constantly expanding to sought-after destinations, such as Dubai. Starting this year, Nammos Limassol will be the ultimate lifestyle protagonist of the city with vivid flavours that stem from the gastronomic genius of Nammos chefs, curated with the finest ingredients, and with parties that elevate the senses and perfectly capture the essence of the Mediterranean way of life. As for when it will operate in Limassol, although the date has not yet been officially announced, information in the column places it in mid-May.

Electric vehicles

The Department of Electromechanical Services has prepared a sponsorship plan for the installation of 1000 recharging points for electric vehicles. The plan will be launched in two phases and financed by the Recovery and Resilience Fund. Beneficiaries of the project will be local authorities, private companies (such as supermarkets, shopping malls, banks, private hospitals, gas stations, etc.), organizations, institutions and managers of publicly accessible recharging or refuelling points operating in areas under the control of the Republic of Cyprus. In fact, 50% of the cost will be subsidized for the purchase of the station/ recharging equipment of a normal or high power electric vehicle, the electrical study, the installation of the recharging point, the connection to the network and the construction of a shelter, auxiliary equipment and lighting. The duration of the call will take place in two phases. Specifically, in the first phase, applications will be submitted by April 30, 2023 and in the second phase by April 30, 2025. The project budget is estimated at €3.7 million. The main purpose of the project is to promote electromobility through the development of an extensive network of recharging points for electric vehicles.
