3,786 NEW CASES, 9 DEATHS - 22-28 April

Nine deaths from coronavirus were recorded in the week of April 22 - 28, according to an announcement by the Ministry of Health. At the same time, 3,786 new cases of Covid-19 were identified. Also, 89 COVID-19 patients are being treated in the hospitals of the CySEC with 20 being in serious condition.

The deaths relate to:

  • Man, aged 82, who died on 21/04/2022
  • Man, aged 93, who died on 22/04/2022
  • Man, aged 89, who died on 23/04/2022
  • Man, aged 78, who died on 24/04/2022
  • Man, aged 77, who died on 24/04/2022
  • Woman, aged 59, who died on 24/04/2022
  • Woman, aged 87, who died on 27/04/2022
  • Woman, aged 87, who died on 27/04/2022
  • Man, aged 75, who died on 27/04/2022
  • Total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19: 1015.
  • 89 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC
  • 20 in serious condition (ICU: 0 out of breath/10 intubated, PPE: 10)
  • Percentage of hospitalized patients without a history of vaccination: 42.70%
  • 11 patients who have ceased to be infectious continue to be hospitalized intubated due to COVID in an Intensive Care Unit.

Diagnostic tests:

  • A total of 143,329 diagnostic tests were performed
  • 3,786 new cases were identified (total cases 480,220).
  • Positivity rate in total exams 2.64%

Total number of molecular tests (PCR):

  • 12,730 molecular tests were performed
  • There were 482 positive cases
  • Positivity rate 3.79%

Total number of rapid antigen tests (Rapid Test):

  • 130,599 rapid antigen tests were performed
  • 3,304 positive cases occurred
  • Positivity rate 2.53%

 Tracking:

  • 148 molecular tests were performed and 9 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 6.08%)

Private initiative:

  • 5,100 molecular tests were performed, 347 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 6.8%)
  • 73,932 rapid antigen tests were performed, 2,297 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 3.11%)

Through the programmes of the Ministry of Health, 56,667 rapid antigen tests were carried out. 1,007 positive cases were identified.

  • Sampling points: 48,242 rapid detection tests identified 950 positive cases (positivity rate 1.97%)

Education

  • Special Schools: 22 rapid antigen tests were performed and no positive cases were identified (positivity rate 0%)

Other

  • Nursing homes: 4,440 rapid antigen tests were performed, 56 positive cases were identified (positivity rate of 1.26%)
  • Closed structures: 3,822 rapid antigen tests were performed and no new cases (positivity rate 0%).
  • National Guard: 141 rapid antigen tests performed, 1 positive case detected (positivity rate 0.71%)
