2,716 NEW CASES, ONE DEATH - Wednesday 6 April

One patient has died from coronavirus in Cyprus, according to today's announcement by the Ministry of Health. At the same time, 2,716 new cases of Covid-19 were identified, with the positivity rate standing at 3.73%.

Death concerns:

  • Man, aged 63, who died on April 6
  • Total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19: 950.
  • 202 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC
  • 27 in serious condition (ICU: 2 out of breath/7 intubated, PPE: 18)
  • Percentage of hospitalized patients without a history of vaccination: 57.93%
  • 12 patients who have ceased to be infectious continue to be hospitalized intubated due to COVID in an Intensive Care Unit.

Diagnostic tests:

  • A total of 72,788 diagnostic tests were performed
  • 2,716 new cases were identified (total cases 449,715).
  • Positivity rate in total exams 3.73%

Total number of molecular tests (PCR):

  • 2,928 molecular tests were performed
  • There were 243 positive cases
  • Positivity rate 8.3%

Total number of rapid antigen tests (Rapid Test):

  • 69,860 rapid antigen tests were performed
  • There were 2,473 positive cases
  • Positivity rate 3.54%

 Tracking:

  • 277 molecular tests were performed and 25 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 9.03%)
  • 884 rapid antigen tests were performed and 57 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 6.45%)

Private initiative:

  • 1,158 molecular tests were performed, 153 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 13.21%)
  • 32,531 rapid antigen tests were performed, 1,518 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 4.67%)

Through the programmes of the Ministry of Health, 37,329 rapid antigen tests were carried out. 955 positive cases were identified.

  • Sampling points: 18,703 rapid detection tests identified 792 positive cases (positivity rate 4.23%)

Education

  • Secondary Education: 9,982 rapid screening tests identified 45 positive cases (positivity rate 0.45%)
  • Test-to-Stay: 3,316 rapid antigen tests were performed and 43 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 1.3%)
  • Special Schools: 599 rapid antigen tests were performed and no positive cases were identified (positivity rate 0%)

Other

  • Nursing homes: 1,317 rapid antigen tests were performed, 14 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 1.06%)
  • Closed structures: 2,528 rapid antigen tests were performed, 4 new cases were identified (positivity rate 0.16%).
