Recognised as one of Europe's preeminent music festivals, the International Pharos Chamber Music Festival has gained an international reputation for the unparalleled quality of its concerts as well as its enchanting atmosphere and settings. Guided by a visionary spirit and dedicated to artistic excellence, the Pharos Festival was the first festival of chamber music to have been established in Cyprus, and it has truly placed Cyprus on the international cultural map, garnering enthusiastic acclaim from music lovers all over the world who visit the island especially to be part of this exceptionally uplifting music experience. Throughout its 21-year-old history, the Festival has presented numerous memorable concerts with many of the world’s finest and most celebrated musicians. At the same time, it has maintained a strong tradition of community service, by making chamber music more accessible to the general public and giving the unique opportunity to students from all over Cyprus to benefit through its educational activities.

𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟮 𝗘𝗗𝗜𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡:

Organized between 24 May and 4 June 2022, the 21st International Pharos Chamber Music Festival welcomes to Cyprus 15 remarkable soloists, for eight amazing chamber concerts, in three different venues.

The Festival will open on Tuesday 24 May 2022, in The Shoe Factory in Nicosia, with a cello and piano recital by the fascinating cellist and artistic director of the Festival Alexander Chaushian, and Alessio Bax, described by the international press as “one of the most remarkable pianists before the public” in the world. With their insightful interpretations and dazzling virtuosity, the duo will undoubtedly offer the audience a ravishing listening experience in works by Mendelssohn, Beethoven, Chopin and Crumb, and carve the way for a magnificent week of music-making in Kouklia’s Royal Manor House – one of the finest surviving monuments of Frankish architecture in Cyprus and a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Specifically transformed by the Festival to an atmospheric recital hall, the Royal Manor will host six chamber concerts, on 27, 28, 29, 31 May and 1 & 2 June, with 15 internationally acclaimed soloists joining forces in an impressive array of instrumental combinations and repertoire. Alongside Alexander Chaushian and Alessio Bax, the Festival will welcome the much-anticipated return visit of the spectacular violinist Daishin Kashimoto – first concertmaster of the Berlin Philharmonic, as well as the first visit of the brilliant violinist Viviane Hagner – praised for her highly intelligent musicality and passionate artistry, the remarkably gifted young violinist Alexandra Tirsu – recent audience-award winner of the prestigious ARD Competition 2021, violist Razvan Popovici – recognised as one of the most accomplished and versatile violists of his generation, cellist Kyril Zlotnikov – founding member of the renowned Jerusalem Quartet, the 22-year-old prodigious pianist Marie Sophie Hauzel – the youngest student ever to have been admitted at the Mozarteum at the age of 15, and the “extraordinary” with “flawless technique” and “gorgeous stage presence” French-Cypriot soprano Sarah Aristidou. The Festival will also welcome the return visit of Freddy Kempf – one of today’s most celebrated pianists who has built a unique reputation as an explosive and physical performer not afraid to take risks, and the Festival’s exceptional soloists who comprise the core of the Festival each year – violinists Boris Brovtsyn and Levon Chilingirian, violists Diemut Poppen and David Abrahamyan, and double-bassist Nabil Shehata.

On Saturday 4 June 2022, chamber music will travel from the ancient village of Kouklia to the ancient Olive Grove - the idyllic open-air venue of the Pharos Arts Foundation in Delikipos, for the final concert of the 21st International Pharos Chamber Music Festival, in a wonderful programme by Mendelssohn, Franck and Brahms, performed by pianist Marie Sophie Hauzel, violinists Boris Brovtsyn and Levon Chilingirian, violist Razvan Popovici and cellist Alexander Chaushian.

Έχοντας αναγνωρισθεί διεθνώς για την απαράμιλλη ποιότητα και την ονειρική ατμόσφαιρα των συναυλιών του, το Διεθνές Φεστιβάλ Μουσικής Δωματίου Φάρος συγκαταλέγεται στα κορυφαία φεστιβάλ κλασικής μουσικής στην Ευρώπη. Καθοδηγούμενο από όραμα, και με αφοσίωση στην καλλιτεχνική αριστεία, το Φεστιβάλ αποτελεί το πρώτο φεστιβάλ μουσικής δωματίου που συστάθηκε ποτέ στην Κύπρο, πριν 21 χρόνια, και έχει χαρίσει στην Κύπρο μια σημαντική θέση στον διεθνή πολιτιστικό χάρτη, προσελκύοντας ενθουσιώδεις μουσικόφιλους από όλον τον κόσμο, οι οποίοι επισκέπτονται το νησί κάθε χρόνο για να βιώσουν αυτήν την σπάνια εκστατική μουσική εμπειρία. Μέσα από την 21χρονη ιστορία του, το Φεστιβάλ έχει παρουσιάσει δεκάδες αξέχαστες συναυλίες με αμέτρητους από τους σημαντικότερους και πιο επιφανείς μουσικούς του διεθνούς μουσικού στερεώματος. Έχοντας καταστήσει τη μουσική δωματίου πιο προσιτή στο ευρύ κοινό, το Φεστιβάλ καλλιεργεί παράλληλα δυνατούς κοινωνικούς δεσμούς, προσφέροντας τη μοναδική ευκαιρία σε μαθητές της δημόσιας εκπαίδευσης, καθώς και σε νεαρούς επαγγελματίες μουσικούς από όλο τον κόσμο, να επωφεληθούν μέσω των εκπαιδευτικών του δραστηριοτήτων.

Το 21ο Διεθνές Φεστιβάλ Μουσικής Δωματίου Φάρος διοργανώνεται μεταξύ 24 Μαΐου και 4 Ιουνίου 2022, και καλωσορίζει στην Κύπρο 15 εκπληκτικούς σολίστες για 8 συναυλίες, σε 3 διαφορετικούς χώρους!

Το Φεστιβάλ θα σηκώσει αυλαία την Τρίτη 24 Μαΐου 2022, στο The Shoe Factory στη Λευκωσία, για ένα ρεσιτάλ για βιολοντσέλο και πιάνο από τον συναρπαστικό τσελίστα και καλλιτεχνικό διευθυντή του Φεστιβάλ Alexander Chaushian και τον πιανίστα Alessio Bax, ο οποίος έχει χαρακτηρισθεί από τον διεθνή τύπο ως «αναμφίβολα ένας από τους πιο αξιοθαύμαστους πιανίστες στον κόσμο.» Με τις διεισδυτικές ερμηνείες τους και την εκθαμβωτική δεξιοτεχνία τους, οι δύο καλλιτέχνες θα προσφέρουν στο κοινό μια καθηλωτική ακουστική εμπειρία σε έργα των Μέντελσον, Μπετόβεν, Σοπέν και Τζορτζ Κραμπ, και θα ανοίξουν τον δρόμο για μια θαυμάσια εβδομάδα μουσικής πανδαισίας στη Μεσαιωνική Έπαυλη των Κουκλιών, η οποία αποτελεί ένα από τα πιο επιβλητικά διασωθέντα μνημεία Φράγκικης αρχιτεκτονικής στην Κύπρο, και Μνημείο Παγκόσμιας Πολιτιστικής Κληρονομιάς της ΟΥΝΕΣΚΟ.

Μεταμορφωμένη ειδικά για τους σκοπούς του Φεστιβάλ σε μια ατμοσφαιρική αίθουσα μουσικής, η Μεσαιωνική Έπαυλη των Κουκλιών θα φιλοξενήσει έξι συναυλίες μουσικής δωματίου, στις 27, 28, 29, 31 Μαΐου και 1 & 2 Ιουνίου, με 15 διεθνούς φήμης σολίστες να ενώνουν τις δυνάμεις σε ένα εντυπωσιακό εύρος ρεπερτορίου. Μαζί με τους Alexander Chaushian και Alessio Bax, το Φεστιβάλ παρουσιάζει την πολυαναμενόμενη επιστροφή του συγκλονιστικού βιολονίστα Daishin Kashimoto – πρώτου Αρχιμουσικού της Φιλαρμονικής του Βερολίνου, και την πρώτη εμφάνιση στο Φεστιβάλ, της εξαίσιας βιολονίστριας Viviane Hagner – μιας μουσικού που έχει εκθειαστεί για τη μεγαλοφυή μουσικότητά και τη γεμάτη πάθος καλλιτεχνία της. Για πρώτη φορά στο Φεστιβάλ επίσης εμφανίζονται η εντυπωσιακά χαρισματική νεαρή βιολονίστρια Alexandra Tirsu – πρόσφατη νικήτρια του Βραβείου του Κοινού στον περίφημο Διαγωνισμό ARD του Μονάχου, ο Razvan Popovici – ένας από τους πιο καταξιωμένους και πολυτάλαντους βιολίστες της γενιάς του, ο τσελίστας Kyril Zlotnikov – ιδρυτικό μέλος του διεθνούς φήμης Jerusalem Quartet, η 22-χρονη υπερταλαντούχα πιανίστρια Marie Sophie Hauzel – η οποία έχει γραφτεί στην ιστορία ως η νεαρότερη σπουδάστρια που έγινε δεχτή ποτέ στο Πανεπιστήμιο Μοτσαρτέουμ του Σάλτσμπουργκ σε ηλικία 15 ετών, και η «εξωπραγματική» με «αψεγάδιαστη τεχνική» και «θεσπέσια σκηνική παρουσία», Γαλλο-Κύπρια σοπράνο Σάρα Αριστείδου. Το Φεστιβάλ θα καλωσορίσει επίσης την επιστροφή του Freddy Kempf – ενός από τους πιο επιφανείς πιανίστες της εποχής μας, ο οποίος έχει κερδίσει τη φήμη του εκρηκτικού και αυθόρμητου ερμηνευτή που δεν διστάζει να ρισκάρει, και όπως κάθε χρόνο, τους εξαίρετους σολίστες που αποτελούν τον πυρήνα του φεστιβάλ – τους βιολονίστες Boris Brovtsyn και Levon Chilingirian, τους βιολίστες Diemut Poppen και David Abrahamyan, και τον κοντραμπασίστα Nabil Shehata.

Το Σάββατο 4 Ιουνίου 2022, η μουσική δωματίου ταξιδεύει από το αρχαίο χωριό των Κουκλιών σε έναν αρχαίο ελαιώνα – τον ειδυλλιακό, υπαίθριο χώρο του Ιδρύματος Τεχνών Φάρος, The Olive Grove, για το φινάλε του 21ο Διεθνούς Φεστιβάλ Μουσικής Δωματίου Φάρος, σε ένα υπέροχο πρόγραμμα με έργα των Μέντελσον, Μπραμς και Φρανκ που θα μας χαρίσουν οι Boris Brovtsyn, Levon Chilingirian, Razvan Popovici, Alexander Chaushian και Marie Sophie Hauzel.
