As of February 2022, the total number of deaths of people diagnosed with COVID-19 reached 99, of which 91 had an underlying cause of COVID19, according to the National Report. It is noteworthy that 56% of the total number of deaths for the month of February 2022, concerns people aged 60 years and over without a history of vaccination.
The data analysis period is for March 2020 to March 2, 2022. As of March 2, 2022, 997 deaths of people diagnosed with COVID-19 have been reported to the Health Monitoring Unit of the Ministry of Health. 61.4% concern men (n=612 deaths) and the remaining 38.6% concern women (n=385 deaths).
Of the 997 deaths, 863 (87%), had an underlying cause of COVID-19.61.6% of the total number of deaths with an underlying cause of COVID-19, concern men (n=532 deaths) and the remaining 38.4% concern women (n=331 deaths). 50% of the total number of deaths of people diagnosed with COVID-19 are people aged 69-86 years, with a median age of death of 79 years and an average age of 76.4 years.The total number of deaths of people diagnosed with COVID-19, in the month of January 2022 (n=109, 10.9%) exceeded in August 2021 (n=100, 10.0%), in February 2022 (n=99, 9.9%) and In January 2021 (n=97, 9.7%). It is followed by December 2020 (n=90, 9.0%), April 2021 with a percentage of 7.3% (n=73), May 2021 with a percentage of 6.4% (n=64) and July 2021 with a percentage of 5.4% (n=54).
The highest percentage of deaths of people positive to COVID-19, with the underlying cause of death being COVID-19, concerns people with permanent residence in the Limassol District (n=306, 35.5%). They are followed by Nicosia District (n=264, 30.6%), Larnaca District (n=156, 18.1%), Paphos District (n=78, 9.0%), Famagusta District (n=48, 5.6%), 7 deaths have an Undetermined Permanent Residence District (0.8%) and 4 deaths concern residents abroad (0.5%).
