THE MANAGEMENT COMPANY OF NORD STREAM 2 GOES BANKRUPT

 Filenews 1 March 2022

The Swiss-based company, which manages the Russian-German gas pipeline Nord Stream 2, which never started transporting cargoes, is considering filing for bankruptcy, two sources with knowledge of the matter told Reuters in order to cover liabilities before U.S. sanctions are implemented, which would block any corporate transaction.

The U.S. imposed sanctions on Nord Stream 2 AG last week after Russia recognized the two separatist "republics" of eastern Ukraine, just before the general invasion of the country, which led to waves of new sanctions against Moscow.

Nord Stream 2 AG, the operator of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, has announced that it has been forced to terminate contracts with its employees because of US sanctions.

"Following the recent geopolitical developments that led to the imposition of US sanctions against Nord Stream 2 AG, the company was forced to terminate the contracts with its employees. We are very sorry for this development," the company's announcement reads.
