Arrests for thefts, reports of burglaries, driving under the influence of drugs include the police bulletin of the Paphos district for Friday night.
The Police arrested a 26-year-old woman as part of an investigation into a case of night-time house burglary and theft, vehicle theft and illegal possession of property. An 82-year-old man made a complaint, stating that on March 3, strangers broke into his residence in Paphos and stole a wristwatch worth about €60, while he located in his home a mobile phone that is not his own.
In another complaint to the Police, it was reported that on the same day the amount of about €10 was stolen from a vehicle in Paphos.
From examinations carried out by members of the Police, testimony was obtained against a 26-year-old woman, who was arrested on a court warrant and taken into custody, to facilitate interrogations.
In the possession of the 26-year-old, a mobile phone and other items were identified and received as evidence, including, for which she did not give a satisfactory explanation as to their possession.
The same evening a resident of Chlorakas, who is responsible for guarding his neighbour's house, who is absent abroad, reported to the Police a violation of it. The assailants on leaving also took the key of the foreign owner's car and fled with it, while it has not yet been established what was stolen from inside the house.
Moreover, from a container used as a warehouse, also in Chlorakas, tools and accessories worth about €8,000 were stolen. According to the owner, the container was locked within a fenced area that was breached.
Two drivers were also spotted on Friday night by members of the Traffic Police in Paphos driving under the influence of drugs.
According to the Police, these are two men, aged 48 and 24. A small quantity of drugs was also found in the 24-year-old's possession. The vehicle he was driving was not registered for road use and did not have a certificate of registration, insurance certificate or MOT certificate.
