IMF - EMERGENCY SUPPORT OF $1.4 billion APPROVED FOR UKRAINE

 Filenews 9 March 2022

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) approved $1.4 billion in emergency support to Ukraine to finance spending and will support the balance of payments, Ukrainian central bank governor Kirillo Shevchenko said in a statement today.

Ukraine has turned to funding from allies and international institutions to support its economy since the start of the Russian invasion on February 24.

"We are immensely grateful to the IMF for its prompt response to our request. We look forward to completing all the required procedures as soon as possible," Shevchenko said. "It is vital for Ukraine now that the country is going through such horrific times."
