Paphos does not need smudged walls, insulting slogans, symbols and vulgar phrases on walls or buildings. Of course, there is no need to desecrate the statues that adorn it, nor to vandalize the historical significance of buildings, nor should we dissolve everything that is beautiful and new we create. This is pointed out by the municipal councillor of EDEK in the Municipality of Pafos, Philippos Filippou, who speaks of unprecedented and intensifying phenomena of disrespect for the environment, parks, playgrounds and public property of the city in general.
"Pafos needs respect, education and culture," he says. " She needs a youth with a strong opinion and love for her city. So, let the various organized people help us in this effort and prove to us that they really love sports, culture and above all our Paphos.
Free speech is not about smudging your city to make any statement. Free speech is the acts against drugs, illegality, intimidation and xenophobia."
Mr. Philippou stresses that the young people of Pafos should not be turned into part of the disaster and invites them to work with the municipal authority for a better Paphos.
