Free card for bus travel for beneficiaries of low pension benefit announced by the Ministry of Transport.
Specifically, the Deputy Ministry of Social Welfare and the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works inform that, within the framework of the Social Policy included in the Announcement of Fares of the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, beneficiaries of the Low Pensioner's Allowance can benefit from the free card of Public Passenger Transport on Regular Bus Services, provided that they secure the personalized smart card (MotionBusCard).
Specifically, MotionBusCard is issued to pensioners who are beneficiaries of the Scheme for the Support of Pensioners with Low Incomes with the necessary presentation at the points of sale / issue of the following:
- ID card or Passport for identification purposes,
- Card issued by the Ministry of Labour, Welfare and Social Insurance,
- Letter of approval of the Low Pensioner's Allowance by the Welfare Benefits Management Service.
MotionBusCard is issued at the points of sale/ticketing upon presentation of the old Low Pensioner card sent by the Ministry of Labour, Welfare and Social Insurance or the letter of approval as beneficiaries of the Low Pensioner's Allowance.
Beneficiaries who do not have in their possession the card of the Ministry of Labour, Welfare and Social Insurance or the letter of approval of the beneficiary of the Low Pensioner's Benefit, can apply for the issuance of a certificate of beneficiary of the Low Pensioners' Allowance through:
- Letter to the address of the Welfare Benefits Management Service at the address: Themistokli Dervi 46, 1066 Nicosia, or
- Fax to 22 803 048, or
- E-mail to the address eee@mlsi.gov.cy on "Certificate of beneficiary of the Low Pensioner's Benefit".
In order to facilitate the low pensioners, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works and the Deputy Ministry of Social Welfare are in contact to find an alternative method of confirming these beneficiaries.
It is clarified that pensioners who receive any assistance for movements with Public Passenger Transport on Regular Bus Services, through the Pensioners Support Scheme, are not beneficiaries of the issuance/use of the free MotionBusCard.
Finally, for the purpose of better serving the beneficiaries, an extension has been granted until May 31, 2022 for the issuance of the free MotionBusCard, while, following the instructions of the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Mr. Yiannis Karousos and the Deputy Minister of Social Welfare, Mrs. Anastasia Anthousi, the cost of €5 for the issuance of MotionBusCard will not be paid by the beneficiaries of the above policy.
