DECISIONS ON 3rd and 4th VACCINES - WHO IT CONCERNS

In the context of the efforts of the Ministry of Health to strengthen the immunity of groups of the population that are most vulnerable to serious illness, the Council of Ministers in today's meeting decided:

a) the administration of an adjuvant3rd dose of vaccine to people aged 12 years and over with a vaccine of MRNA (Pfizer) technology, provided that the period of six (6) months has elapsed since the reception of the 2nd dose.

(b) the administration of a vaccine booster/4th dose:

  • in people over 70 years of age, provided that the period of five (5) months has elapsed since the reception of the strengthening/3rd dose,
  • people regardless of age, living or working in nursing homes and closed facilities, health professionals and *immunosuppressed individualsprovided that the period of five (5) months has elapsed since the reception of the strengthening 3rd dose.

*Immunosuppressed individuals:

  • In active therapy for solid tumours and haematological malignancies
  • With a history of transplantation of solid organs receiving immunosuppressive therapy
  • With a history of transplantation of primordial hematopoietic organs receiving immunosuppressive therapy
  • People with hereditary immunodeficiency
  • People with HIV Infection/AIDS
  • People on immunosuppressive therapy including biological agents
  • With regard to cortisone intake, it concerns people who have received or are receiving a total dose of ›10 mg prednisone/day (=8 mg methylpregnisolone) for one (1) month in the last six months.
  • With renal failure undergoing haemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis.

Taking the booster (3rd or 4th) dose of vaccine is optional.

The start date of vaccinations and the procedure to be followed will be announced at a later stage.
