5,286 NEW CASES, ONE DEATH - Monday 21 March

The Ministry of Health announces that today, March 21, 2022, one person has died due to coronavirus, while 5,286 are the new cases.

Specifically:

  • 1 death was announced
  • It concerns:
    • Man, aged 63, who died on March 20, 2022
    • Total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19: 915.
  • 149 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC
  • 31 in serious condition (ICU: 0 out of breath/7 intubated, PPE: 24)
  • Percentage of hospitalized patients without a history of vaccination: 54.37%
  • 21 patients who have ceased to be infectious continue to be hospitalized intubated due to COVID in an Intensive Care Unit.

Diagnostic tests:

  • A total of 114,066 diagnostic tests were performed
  • 5,286 new cases were identified (total cases 382,642).
  • Positivity rate in total exams 4.63%

Total number of molecular tests (PCR):

  • 4,740 molecular tests were performed
  • There were 482 positive cases
  • Positivity rate 10.17%

Total number of rapid antigen tests (Rapid Test):

  • 109,326 rapid antigen tests were performed
  • There were 4,804 positive cases
  • Positivity rate 4.39%

 Tracking:

  • 528 molecular tests were performed and 44 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 8.33%)
  • 830 rapid antigen tests were performed and 96 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 11.57%)

Private initiative:

  • 1,627 molecular tests were performed, 347 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 21.33%)
  • 52,037 rapid antigen tests were performed, 3,200 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 6.15%)

Through the programmes of the Ministry of Health, 57,289 rapid antigen tests were carried out. 1,604 positive cases were identified.

  • Sampling points: 17,900 rapid detection tests identified 1,062 positive cases (positivity rate 5.93%)

Education

  • Primary Education: 18,418 rapid antigen tests, 174 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 0.94%)
  • Secondary Education: 11,035 rapid screening tests identified 107 positive cases (positivity rate 0.97%)
  • Test-to-Stay: 6,118 rapid antigen tests were performed and 106 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 1.73%)
  • Special Schools: 816 rapid antigen tests were performed and positive cases were identified (positivity rate 0.74%)

Other

  • Nursing homes: 1,424 rapid antigen tests were performed, 45 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 3.16%)
  • Closed structures: 277 rapid antigen tests were performed , 2 new cases were identified (positivity rate 0.72%).
  • Government Agencies: 471 rapid antigen tests were performed and positive cases were identified (positivity rate 1.27%)
