5,172 NEW CASES, TWO DEATHS - Saturday 26 March

The Ministry of Health announces that today, March 26, 2022, two people have died due to coronavirus, while 5,172 new cases have been identified.

Specifically:

  • 2 deaths reported
  • They concern:
  • Woman, aged 85, who died on March 26, 2022
  • Woman, aged 96, who died on March 26, 2022

Total number of deaths with final cause of COVID-19: 927.

  • 169 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC
  • 21 in serious condition (ICU: 0 out of snorkel/6 intubated, PPE: 15)
  • Percentage of hospitalized patients without a history of vaccination: 52.08%
  • 22 patients who have ceased to be infectious continue to be hospitalized intubated due to COVID in an Intensive Care Unit.

Diagnostic tests:

  • A total of 82,488 diagnostic tests were performed
  • 5,172 new cases were identified (total cases 405,706).
  • Positivity rate in total exams 6.27%

Total number of molecular tests (PCR):

  • 3,769 molecular tests were performed
  • There were 422 positive cases
  • Positivity rate 11.2%

Total number of rapid antigen tests (Rapid Test):

  • 78,719 rapid antigen tests were performed
  • There were 4,750 positive cases
  • Positivity rate 6.03%

 Tracking:

  • 1,589 molecular tests were performed and 37 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 2.33%)
  • 1,047 rapid antigen tests were performed and 115 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 10.98%)

Private initiative:

  • 1,661 molecular tests were performed, 329 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 19.81%)
  • 42,275 rapid antigen tests were performed, positive cases identified (positivity rate 0%)

Through the health ministry's programmes, 36,444 rapid antigen tests were carried out. 1,871 positive cases were identified.

  • Sampling points: 34,126 rapid detection tests identified 1,704 positive cases (positivity rate 4.99%)

Other

  • Nursing homes: 796 rapid antigen tests were performed, 52 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 6.53%)
  • Closed structures: 475 rapid antigen tests were performed and no new cases were identified (positivity rate 0%).
