5,089 NEW CASES, TWO DEATHS - Tuesday 29 March

The Ministry of Health announces that today, March 29, 2022, two people have died due to Covid, while 5,089 new cases have been identified.

Specifically:

  • 2 deaths reported
  • They concern:
    • Man, aged 76, who died on March 29
    • Woman, aged 88, who died on March 29
  • Total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19: 932.
  • 182 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC
  • 21 in serious condition (ICU: 1 off ventilator/4 intubated, PPE: 16)
  • Percentage of hospitalized patients without a history of vaccination: 54.95%
  • 21 patients who have ceased to be infectious continue to be hospitalized intubated due to COVID in an Intensive Care Unit.

Diagnostic tests:

  • A total of 95,315 diagnostic tests were performed
  • 5,089 new cases were identified (total cases 421,603).
  • Positivity rate in total exams 5.34%

Total number of molecular tests (PCR):

  • 4,344 molecular tests were performed
  • 522 positive cases occurred
  • Positivity rate 12.02%

Total number of rapid antigen tests (Rapid Test):

  • 90,971 rapid antigen tests were performed
  • 4,567 positive cases occurred
  • Positivity rate 5.02%

 Tracking:

  • 482 molecular tests were performed and 101 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 20.95%)
  • 851 rapid antigen tests were performed and 106 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 12.46%)

Private initiative:

  • 1,696 molecular tests were performed, 309 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 18.22%)
  • 35,896 rapid antigen tests were performed, 2,890 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 8.05%)

Through the programmes of the Ministry of Health, 55,075 rapid antigen tests were carried out. 1,677 positive cases were identified.

  • Sampling points: 17,809 rapid detection tests identified 1,195 positive cases (positivity rate 6.71%)

Education

  • Primary Education: 18,505 rapid antigen tests, 148 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 0.8%)
  • Secondary Education: 9,846 rapid screening tests identified 91 positive cases (positivity rate 0.92%)
  • Test-to-Stay: 5,982 rapid antigen tests were performed and 98 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 1.64%)

Other

  • Nursing homes: 1,117 rapid antigen tests were performed, 26 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 2.33%)
  • Closed structures: 369 rapid antigen tests were performed, new cases were identified (positivity rate of 1.63%).
  • Government Agencies: 596 rapid antigen tests were performed and positive cases were identified (positivity rate 1.17%)
