3,473 NEW CASES, THREE DEATHS - Thursday 10 March

Three deaths from coronavirus were announced today by the Ministry of Health. At the same time, according to the announcement, 3,473 cases of coronavirus were identified.

The deaths relate to:

  • Woman, aged 54, who died on March 9
  • Woman, aged 85, who died on March 10
  • Man, aged 89, who died on March 10
  • Total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19: 889.

Also:

  • 113 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC
  • 22 in serious condition (ICU: 0 out of snorkel/8 intubated, PPE: 14)
  • Percentage of hospitalized patients without a history of vaccination: 57.53%
  • 21 patients who have ceased to be infectious continue to be hospitalized intubated due to COVID in an Intensive Care Unit.

Diagnostic tests:

  • A total of 98,705 diagnostic tests were performed
  • 3,473 new cases were identified (total cases 344,856).
  • Positivity rate in total exams 3.52%

Total number of molecular tests (PCR):

  • 3,868 molecular tests were performed
  • There were 386 positive cases
  • Positivity rate 9.98%

Total number of rapid antigen tests (Rapid Test):

  • 94,837 rapid antigen tests were performed
  • 3,087 positive cases occurred
  • Positivity rate 3.26%

 Tracking:

  • 343 molecular tests were performed and 66 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 19.24%)
  • 663 rapid antigen tests were performed and 76 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 11.46%)

Private initiative:

  • 1,449 molecular tests were performed, 247 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 17.05%)
  • 41,417 rapid antigen tests were performed, 2,071 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 5%)

Through the programmes of the Ministry of Health, 53,420 rapid antigen tests were carried out. 1,016 positive cases were identified.

  • Sampling points: 14,690 rapid detection tests identified 689 positive cases (positivity rate 4.69%)

Education

  • Primary Education: 20,256 rapid antigen tests, 89 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 0.44%)
  • Secondary Education: 11,878 rapid screening tests identified 88 positive cases (positivity rate 0.74%)
  • Test-to-Stay: 2,728 rapid antigen tests were performed and 33 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 1.21%)
  • Special Schools: 858 rapid antigen tests were performed and positive case was identified (positivity rate 0.12%)

Other

  • Nursing homes: 1,060 rapid antigen tests were performed, 31 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 2.92%)
  • Closed structures: 186 rapid antigen tests were performed, 3 new cases were identified (positivity rate of 1.61%).
  • Government Agencies: 1,101 rapid antigen tests were performed and positive cases were identified (positivity rate 0.54%)
