3,347 NEW CASES, ONE DEATH - Saturday 19 March

Another patient lost their life due to coronavirus in Cyprus according to today's announcement of the Ministry of Health. Also, 3,347 new cases of Covid-19 were identified with the positivity rate standing at 4.51%.

Death concerns:

Woman, aged 86, who died on March 19

Total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19: 911.

  • 126 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC
  • 21 in serious condition (ICU: 0 out of snorkel/7 intubated, PPE: 14)
  • Percentage of hospitalized patients without a history of vaccination: 57.15%
  • 23 patients who have ceased to be infectious continue to be hospitalized intubated due to COVID in an Intensive Care Unit.

Diagnostic tests:

  • A total of 74,164 diagnostic tests were performed
  • 3,347 new cases were identified (total cases 373,658).
  • Positivity rate in total exams 4.51%

Total number of molecular tests (PCR):

  • 3,406 molecular tests were performed
  • There were 285 positive cases
  • Positivity rate 8.37%

Total number of rapid antigen tests (Rapid Test):

  • 70,758 rapid antigen tests were performed
  • There were 3,062 positive cases
  • Positivity rate 4.33%

 Tracking:

  • 80 molecular tests were performed and 6 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 7.5%)
  • 807 rapid antigen tests were performed and 77 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 9.54%)

Private initiative:

  • 1,377 molecular tests were performed, 233 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 16.92%)
  • 38,467 rapid antigen tests were performed, 1,890 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 4.91%)

Through the health ministry's programs, 32,291 rapid antigen tests were performed. 1,172 positive cases were identified.

  • Sampling points: 30,358 rapid detection tests identified 1,084 positive cases (positivity rate 3.57%)

Other

  • Nursing homes: 615 rapid antigen tests were performed, 4 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 0.65%)
  • Closed structures: 251 rapid antigen tests were performed no new cases were detected (positivity rate 0%).
