THE BRITISH BASES WERE VISITED BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE HOUSE OF COMMONS

Reference to the close relationship between the United Kingdom and the Republic of Cyprus was made by the President of the House of Commons, Sir Lindsey Hoyle, during a visit to the British Bases of Akrotiri and Diocese.

According to an announcement by the BB, the President of the UK House of Commons, made his visits the day before yesterday, Wednesday, as part of his three-day presence on the island and praised the work done by the men and women serving in Cyprus. Cyprus' British Bases are part of "global Britain" and an outpost for peacekeeping, he said.

"Sovereign Bases matter to me, because this is the world Britain at its best, our advanced outpost, it is so that we keep the peace in the world," he said.

He expressed no satisfaction with the living conditions of the soldiers, saying that if he served himself now, he would like to do so in Cyprus.

Among other things, he pointed out the close relations and the excellent cooperation between the United Kingdom and the Republic of Cyprus, but also between the two peoples.

It is recalled that this is the first official visit of the Speaker of the House of Commons to Cyprus, which took place at the invitation of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Annita Demetriou.
