More than 30 Russian warships, including frigates, submarines and tanks, have created an impenetrable fire barrier that extends off the coast of Romania and reaches east of Varna in Bulgaria. It is the operation to blockade Ukraine by sea, with the objective of Moscow not to allow any warship of another country to approach Odessa and the coast of the besieged country.
At the same time, Russian raids are escalating in Ukraine, where Kharkiv was hit on Monday morning by Russian Sukhoi fighters.
It is noted that the presence of Russian warships prevents merchant ships attempting to approach Ukrainian cities in the Black Sea.
One of the Russian warships in the Black Sea was the one that opened fire on the 13 Ukrainian border guards on Fidonisi, off Odessa, killing all the defenders of the island. "To a Russian warship. Ante c@@@te" were the last words of the Ukrainian soldiers, before the crew of the warship opened fire and exterminated all 13 military guards.
In fact, immediately after the Russian ultimatum, Ukrainian border guards discuss among themselves whether they should answer the Russians "ante c@@@te". Then the Ukrainian soldier repeats loudly, in a stentorian voice, addressing the Russian attackers: "Ante c@@@te."
However, the terrifying naval presence of the Russians in the Black Sea occurred after the Russians managed to cross the Turkish-controlled Bosporus Straits unhindered. Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Çavuşoğlu himself responded negatively to repeated requests by Ukrainians to prevent Russian warships from crossing the Straits.
"If It is judged that Turkey is in a state of war, the Bosporus Straits will be closed," the head of Turkish diplomacy said, giving Moscow the green light to maintain its naval presence in the Black Sea unhindered and to be able to accumulate even more naval forces around Ukraine, if Vladimir Putin so chooses. By opting for a naval blockade, Moscow is sending out the signal that it wants to strangle the supply of cities in Eastern Ukraine that are not controlled by pro-Russian forces, exacerbating siege conditions.
"We are concerned about the size of the massive Russian military presence, the largest Europe has seen since 1945," U.S. Ambassador Geoffrey Pyatt said Wednesday, just hours before the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
While in the Black Sea Russian warships have surrounded Ukraine and in the Mediterranean they tend to create conditions that could refer to an undeclared naval battle, warships of other countries are moving in our wider region. Off the coast of Cyprus sails the French aircraft carrier "Charles de Gaulle" with another 5-6 warships accompanying it. At the moment, French naval forces are taking a wait-and-see attitude.
Russian raids on Ukraine
As shown in the videos circulating on social media, Russian fighters fly over Kharkiv, while explosions are recorded even in populated areas.
