As you are all aware, letters have recently been issued asking UK expats to return their voting books as post-Brexit we are now third country nationals and not entitled to vote. This is despite the fact that I understand negotiations are still underway between the Cypriot and UK Governments to try and reach an agreement.
On 31 January, I received a phone call from Areti to advise that the District Office would be issuing me a letter telling me to vacate my seat on the council. To date nothing has been received from the District Office and Areti has this morning been told that she cannot invite me to the council meeting tonight [10 February].
Bejay Browne will be posting an article in the Mail on Sunday issue on 13 February, and the British High Commission, a Paphos MP and a journalist on Philenews are investigating the situation.
For the time being the fate of Tala News and my duties as a councillor now hang in the balance.
