Neither the new Municipality of Polis Chrysochous nor the new Municipality of Pegeia wish to join the communities of Akamas, which ask because of the important peculiarities of their region to remain a complex of communities.

This was shouted jointly by the community authorities at a meeting held on Tuesday in Drousia. The president of the K.S. Kathikas and vice-president of the Union of Pafos Communities Menelaos Tourvas said that he cannot conceive that the Parliament will vote for the dissolution of the entities of the communities of Akamas.

"The residents of the communities want to remain in the Akamas community complex defined by the Union of Communities," he said.

The president of the Inia C.C., Yiangos Tsivikos, said that at a time when the Government has spent a lot of money to make some studies and create these complexes, the proposal made by the Movement of Ecologists - Citizens' Cooperation without any consultation with those directly involved, is rejected.

"We insist on remaining as a complex, as was an initial agreement of the Union of Communities," he said. "Studies should be presented that the new proposal is viable and it is assumed that every community and the residents agree to be unified with any municipality, be it the Municipality of Pegeia or the Municipality of Polis Chrysochous".

The commune of Arodon, Matthaios Stefanou, expressed the desire of the communities to remain in the original decision of the Union of Communities to maintain a complex of Akamas communities and unleashed arrows against the ecologists, saying characteristically that the authorities and the inhabitants of the peninsula will not succumb to the demand of the Ecologists aimed at the dissolution of the communities.
