Fifteen years after the conception of the idea, finally the first Cultural Village of Cyprus, seems to be entering a stage of implementation. The Cultural Village with the contract for the projects was signed on January 10 and provides for a implementation time of 80 weeks.
The Cultural Village of Lemba is a vision of the great artist and founder of the Stas Paraschos Art College, which was embraced and adopted by the late former Minister of Education Akis Kleanthous. It will have workshops, exhibition halls, living quarters for artists and teachers, and other facilities for hosting schools and students from Cyprus and EU countries, with the aim of teaching sculpture and pottery.
The President of the Community Council of Lemba, Thucydides Chrysostomou, stressed that the preparatory actions have already begun after the signing of the contracts, such as the transfer of students already active in the Art College to another place, as well as the transfer of the School's facilities, which were granted to Stas Paraschos, to the Community Council of Lemba.
"In this way, we ensured the continuation of the use and operation of the School both by the foreign students of the School, as well as by the students and teachers of secondary education, thus giving the incentive to the Ministry of Education to proceed with the implementation of the planning and execution of the project of the Cultural Village", said the president of the K.S. Lembas.
The creation of the Cultural Village is done through the budget of the Ministry of Education and Culture.
